Welcome to Hank’s Place —
At Hank’s Place we LIVE LIFE — by God’s grace – which is abundant toward us, thanks to JESUS! So much better than trying to EARN it, don’t you agree?
God’s grace. We experience God’s grace because God IS gracious. In Exodus 34:6, when God is showing Himself to Moses, we read “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” Gracious is used here as an adjective describing God. Grace is one of His attributes.
In its verb form, it means to be considerate, to show favor. That God is gracious would mean that He is favorably inclined toward us. That He wants to show favor toward us. To do what is best for us. Always.
God IS gracious. It is not something that He puts on and takes off depending on the situation. He is always gracious. He does not decide to show us grace. Grace is WHO HE IS. Because He is gracious, He demonstrates grace in everything He does.
Grace is also what God DOES because He is gracious. Every action of God toward us involves His grace. His creation, His divine providence, His working in the heart of a sinner, His gift of salvation, His dwelling within and equipping of the saints, and the future He has prepared for us. All of these are due to God’s grace.
His grace is abundant toward us because, in case you hadn’t noticed, we are living in the GRACE side of Calvary, under the NEW COVENANT. A covenant is something where 2 parties enter into an agreement, a contract. One promises to do such and such, and the other has their part of the agreement to uphold. It is serious. In the old days, a person could kill the other person in the covenant if they broke the terms. Under the Old Covenant, Israel could not uphold their part. Many died. Generations perished!
Under this NEW covenant, something amazing has taken place. Jesus identified with us. He called Himself the Son of Man. HE kept, keeps eternally actually, the requirements of our part in this new covenant. It’s between God and God — and therefore CANNOT be broken. By faith we enter it. We enter His rest, resting from our works, works that are fruitless, really. This is truly Amazing Grace, dear friend, for it is UNCONDITIONAL toward us — we believe it — and receive it.
Today, find your rest in Jesus dear friend, the source of eternal salvation. Yes. Find your rest in Jesus, our eternal high priest of the good things to come. Hebrews 5:9 and 6:20.
Receive His grace, discover that rest, start receiving those good things to come NOW — you’ll COME ALIVE!
